Packing Advice for an Amazing Journey

When you come to Colombia you will need to bring a few items with you to ensure you have the best experience possible. Although we do provide many items we do suggest bringing certain things with you to make your stay more comfortable and home-like.

The great thing about Colombia is that US citizens don’t need a government visa to travel there and the electrical current/outlets are the exact same as in the USA. No adapter is necessary. Though you will need a government issued Passport to travel.

THINGS TO BRING

  • Your passport (must have a regular government issued book type, not card type, passport)

  • It is best to bring only one suitcase and one small carry-on bag

  • Backpack (very necessary)

  • Any prescription medications or other meds needed (2 weeks to 1 month supply is always suggested to be certain)

  • At least 1 or 2 large bath towels and one pool/beach towel

  • A bath/shower sponge or loofah that dries easily

  • Bar soap (easier to transport than liquid)

  • Shampoo and/or conditioner

  • Toothpaste and oral hygiene items (Limiting liquids is best)

  • Sunscreen

  • Lotions/ Moisturizer

  • Bug Repellent

  • Rain Poncho/ Jacket (cheap variety is fine)

  • Warm Jacket/ Sweater (it can get cool at night- Andes Mountains- as low as the 40’s)

  • Easy to slip on warm shoes to take to the Shamans (We personally suggest Crocs or something similar that allows you to wear socks)

  • A pair of Athletic shoes and/or comfortable walking shoes (we don’t suggest more than 2 to 3 pairs of shoes or less)

  • Easy to wear comfortable vacation clothing with both shorts and pants/jeans (Layers are the key in Colombia as the mountains do get cold at night)

  • 3 white shirts (comfortable) for all guests (if you are a colder natured person you may prefer a long sleeve shirt while others prefer short sleeves- t-shirts work well)

  • A white (preferred) or beige colored jacket (VERY IMPORTANT)
(to be worn to the Shaman’s, the jacket can have writing on it. You may choose to bring only one jacket)

  • Sleeping Bag (to take to the Shaman’s)

  • Shower/Pool shoes (flip flops, etc)

  • Clorox wipes and baby wipes (you will definitely need both)

  • Any snacks you can’t live without (a variety of snacks will be provided for you)

  • Empty water bottle for refilling to keep in your bag(any regular water bottle is fine as bottles in Colombia are not as durable)

THINGS NOT TO BRING

  • Jewelry that is expensive or appears to be expensive

  • Expensive eye wear and/or shades

  • Expensive handbags or purses

  • High heels or fancy shoes/ clothing

  • Heavy items that would cause your luggage to weigh more (Remember many airlines charge extra for bags over 40 or 50lbs)

  • Extra things you don’t need (save the space for souvenirs)
